William Donnelly: cartoons and controversy.
I have just posted a page on William Donnelly (1847 - 1905). I have a large sketchbook of his, full of cartoons and images, by no means all of which I understand. He was an interesting and eccentric figure, and his sketches are full of energy, even if some of the humour is lost on us today. I believe much of the content was drawn at the time he was courting the lady who I suspect became his wife.
