Non-Scottish Scots: more Scottish than the Scots
Given my name, Alastair James Mackay Mitchell, I have some reason to boast of my Scottish heritage. But as someone born in Dartford and brought up in Kent, I am acutely aware of the urge, even the danger of over-emphasizing this ancestry, and of trying to be more Scottish than the Scots.
I have put together a short page today, with one or two images connected to these thoughts. Tartan is such a distinctive outfit, and the reason for wearing can range from fashion to a desperate need to show one's allegiance. Now I must go and put on my kilt......
