The Hazard, 1746: a Jacobite Excitement at Tongue
Perhaps the most significant historical event to take place in the Kyle of Tongue occured on March 24th 1746. A Royal Navy sloop called The Hazard had previously been captured by the Jacobite rebels, and renamed the Prince Charles Stuart. On the date in question, the ship was pursued by the Sheerness, under the command of Captain O'Brian, and sought refuge in the Kyle of Tongue.
